{about}

I love to cook and I love to find new recipes. As a new homeowner and a newlywed, I'm constantly trying to find my way around my new kitchen and determine the best things to cook in it to make my little family happy-- and figure out the best ways to cook for my household. With only two of us so far, I have to scale down the cooking sometimes, although we do love leftovers. The timing is always tricky for me to make sure we have enough yummy dinners (and leftover lunches) for the week, without ending up having so much that it goes bad or we get sick of it before it's all eaten. I absolutely hate wasting food and have found that cooking a full meal three or four times a week is really all we need-- supplementing leftovers with other sides and veggies. I also am striving to figure out exactly what meals make my husband happiest and how to avoid certain things in my cooking (or figure out ways to disguise them!) that he refuses to eat, like tomatoes, that I love and are the basis for so many of my go-to meals.

I find that I am so overzealous with my research and trying new recipes, that I always end up forgetting which ones we actually loved, or even if I remember we loved it, I forget to ever end up making it again because I'm on to the next new thing. I want a way to record what I make and most especially, what we love, so that I can remember it all and eventually create a dinner rotation with my tried and true meals I should be making again and again, while still trying new things too. It will be my resolution to make a meal again within two weeks if it was something we really liked, or something that I think we would really like with a couple of tweaks. I will then update the recipe with the final version that we liked best. In this way I can keep track of everything at once.

Note: I am not making up all these recipes. While I do often just look for ideas and then changing the recipe to fit my needs and mood, I will usually be finding the initial recipe from some other source. I am not a chef or recipe developer and do not take credit for the recipes I use here :)
